News from
the Technology Lab.......
* The 8th graders are
creating a mural for the library that will
explain the Dewey Decimal System categories. They are working
on this project in both Library Skills and Computer class.
Look for
it in the library in the coming weeks.
* The 4th graders have
been very busy in the Technology Lab.
Mrs. Overend's
reading class has done research about black cowboys
and the rodeo on the Internet. They created the graphics for
their recipe
books in the Technology Lab and shortly will be typing and
illustrating
poems they have written in language arts class. Mrs.
Treshman's reading
class has done research on the Internet about sod houses as
preparation
for reading the story Addie in Charge. Fourth grade
math classes have
come to the lab to practice their multiplication skills with
new math
software. For the next few weeks they will be accessing
websites linked to
the Fourth Grade page on the school website to gather
information for
their social studies projects about Christmas in other
countries. In
computer class they have begun the Internet research in
preparation for
writing the messages for their postcards for the Postcard
Geography
Internet project. We have already received many postcards
from other
schools participating in this wonderful project.
* Students from 1st to 8th
grade have been practicing their keyboarding
skills. This is an important task because students must
be accurately
typing at 30 word per minute when they enter high
school.
* Second graders completed Internet
research about animals in the Arctic
habitat. Sixth grade mentors assisted them in their Internet
research.
* Six St. Michael's teachers are
taking an online course about integrating
technology in the school curriculum written and conducted by
our
technology teacher Mrs. Laur.
