Task:
Follow the directions at each website to find information about Maryland for your book. Use the research worksheets to record your gathered information. Print out the worksheets and staple the pages together before beginning your search. Watch your handwriting and spelling because these pages will be added to your book about Maryland for your social studies project. In social studies class you will be adding additional pages for the book. Your 7th grade buddies will be helping you complete your Internet search.

Open Maryland Kids' Page.
Find and open "State Symbols".
Fill in the State Symbols worksheet.

 

2.  A Famous Marylander
Open Maryland Kids' Page.
Find and open "Famous People From Maryland".
Pick a famous Marylander from the list on the website.
Name the person and tell one important fact about the person.

3.  Maryland Government
Open Maryland Kids' Page
The name of the Governor and Lieutenant Governor appear at the top of the homepage for this website.
Write the names of the Governor and Lieutenant Governor on the "government" worksheet.

Open Senate homepage.
Choose a state (Maryland).
Fill in the name of our two senators on the "government" worksheet.

Open House of Representatives homepage.
Enter the complete zipcode for St. Michael School.  ( 21206-1112 )
Add the names of our representatives on the "government" worksheet.

4.Remember to draw a picture of your favorite state symbol on your worksheet.
   Instead of drawing the symbol, you may copy and paste a copy of your favorite symbol     from the website and add it to your book. Your 7th grade buddy can help you do this.

Now you are ready to complete your book about Maryland in social studies class.
