How to
Make PowerPoint Note Cards
1. Open
PowerPoint.
2. Choose File....New ...... Blank Presentation.
3. Choose first layout in the second row (the one
with the space at the top and a bulleted list).
4. Go to Insert.....New Slide.
Do this 9 times. You now have 10 slides.
5. Go to Save. Call the file:
notecards5a(b)yourname
6. Go to the first website you will be using for your
research.
7. Point to the address bar. Right-click and copy the
address.
8. Toggle back to PowerPoint.
9. Click in slide #1. Past the web address that you
copied into the top white space. Save.
10. Go back to your source. Read through the
information, skimming for facts about your
topic. Find a fact that you want to use in your
paragraph. Highlight the words that will help
you write good sentences about your topic. Use
Edit...Copy to copy a few key words
(fact fragments). Choose enough to help you to
be able to be able to make sense out of the
information when you go back to it.
11. Toggle back to PowerPoint. Paste each
highlighted note you have chosen on your note
card. You should use only one note per card.
Save.
12. Repeat the previous steps until you have
developed 10 note cards. Save.
13. Go to View.....Note Cards and look at your notes.
Rearrange the cards if needed.
14. Print a copy of your notes in handout form by
going to File.....Print.
Choose...Print...Handout. Print 6 slides
per page.

Using Your Notes to Write Your Paragraph
1. Open
PowerPoint notes.
2. Open Word.
3. Use your notes to write a good paragraph about
your topic. Use Copy and Paste if you like in
forming the sentences for the paragraph.
Remember to write complete sentences.
Save your paragraph with the filename:
