Fifth Grade

The Fifth graders learn grammar with Mrs. Summers' games, songs and jingles. They use graphic organizers to learn how to construct paragraphs. They learn about Fort McHenry and the Battle of Baltimore. They also read novels including The Hundred Dresses, Stone Fox and Shiloh. The Fifth graders do a poetry unit in Language Arts. They also enjoy pairing up with Third graders to read. In Math they like to play math games including "24" and Math Bingo to practice the math facts. Students in 5th grade learn about weather in Science and create a series of Weather Alphabet posters in Technology class
