Application Process
ADMISSIONS/REGISTRATION:
CURRENT STUDENTS (Re-Enrollment)
The parents of students intending to return in the fall to St. Michael School must complete a letter of intent and return it to the school office by the date designated by the Principal.
Re-registration forms and fees for the upcoming school year are due in the office by the middle of February
Readmission to St. Michael the Archangel School depends upon academic, behavioral, and financial considerations. Students must:
adhere to the academic requirements of St. Michael the Archangel School,
adhere to the Discipline Philosophy, and
be current with all financial obligations.
NEW STUDENTS
Registration for kindergarten and grades one through eight will take place in February. The exact date is announced in the parish bulletin, school calendar, and school memos. A child must be six years of age by September 1st of the current year in order to enroll in grade one.
Program 2012-2013
Pre-K 9/2/07-9/1/08
Kindergarten 9/2/06-9/1/07
First Grade 9/2/05-9/1/06
The following certifications must be presented on the day of registration: Baptismal Certificate, Birth Certificate, Certificate of Immunization, Social Security Card, report cards, and standardized test scores (where applicable).
The process of admission includes:
1. interview of parents and child with Principal, if transferring,
2. a transcript of grades and standardized test results, if the child is transferring from another school,
3. screenings for learning aptitude at the discretion of the Principal.,
4. a report of all health and immunization records and physical health examination, and
5. student participation in a shadow day for teacher observation and assessment.
ORDER OF REGISTRATION
1. Current students attending St. Michael School,
2. Siblings of current students,
3. Registered parishioners of St. Michael the Archangel Parish,
4. God’s Little People,
5. Registered parishioners of parishes with no associated schools,
6. Other Catholics, and
7. Non-Catholics.
Non-Catholic students may enroll in St. Michael School. However, due to scheduling and supervision requirements, all students must participate in all aspects of the religion program.
PROBATION PERIOD
The probationary period is a time for review and observation of a student’s behavior and academic qualifications. During this period, the behavior and academic progress of the new students will be observed. To properly satisfy the behavioral and academic needs of all students, the needs of the new students must be compatible with the currently available resources of the school. Students whose behavioral and academic needs are beyond the resources of St. Michael School will be advised to seek help satisfying those needs.
If the psychological and emotional needs or problems of the student are beyond the professional expertise of the faculty or adversely affect the learning environment, the administration has the right to require the withdrawal of any student who is unable to comply with St. Michael’s School standards.
