History

St. Michael the Archangel School is located in an older established neighborhood in Overlea, Maryland. The rich history of the school began in 1926 with the Ursuline Nuns at the helm. The Daughters of Charity took over the staffing of the school in 1952. They staffed the school for forty years until 1992. The Daughters of Charity established an endowment fund, which is used to recognize the seventh grader with the highest grade point average with an award of $250.00 to be used towards Saint Michael the Archangel’s tuition for the 8th grade.

The local parish of St. Michael the Archangel is a microcosm of the Church and its mission, which is to bring the message of Christ to the community. The parish shares in a vital and special way the mission of the Church. The mission is to joyfully proclaim the presence of Jesus and is the primary reason for the existence of the parish school.

Mission

We believe that Catholic education is geared to the development of all dimensions of the student: spiritual, emotional, physical and cognitive. Both parish and school work together, with the parents to prepare the youth of today to become strong witnesses of Jesus Christ and participants in our Catholic faith.
